The opportunity of adversity

I like to share with you the discovery that I made.
A few month ago, when I was writing an article called Italian Wired

I have never once in my life looked up the word 'disable'.
To see what I find.

Disable. adj.

impotent.
handicapped

See also. Hurt
Ant. Health, Strong, Capable.

I was reading this loud to a friend. At first, I was laughing. It's so ludicrous.

and my voice broke and I have to stop
and Collect the myself from the emotional shock
and impact of the soul these words unleashed.

Ancient printing but in fact The printing was in 1980s.

When I was
forming and understanding myself.

the other kids around me.

Thank God I wasn't using thesaurus back then.
I mean, from these entries.
I was born into a world that perceive someone like me to have nothing positive whatsoever.
going for them.

The adventure of my life has procured
so I immediately went to look up the 2009 online edition.
expecting to find the edition of the

Here is the update

Unfortunately, it's not particular helpful

It's not just about the words.
It's what we believe about when we name them.

How we construct those values
Our language affect our thinking and
How we view the world and how we view other people.
In fact, many ancient societies including Rome and Greek.
Because to say the things out loud brought it into existence
So, what reality do we want to call into existence.
A person who is limited or a person who is empowered.
By casually doing something as simple as naming the a person, a child,
we might be putting lits and casting shadows on their powers
Wouldn't we want to open the doors for them instead.
Once a person who opened door to me was my doctor.

Her name was
Too difficult for most of the Americans to pronounce.
Dr. P always were really colorful and had the very perfect disposition to work with children.
I love almost everything about my time spent at this hospital with the exception.

I had to do things like

thick, elastic bands, different colors to help me build up the muscles.

I hate them. You know. I was alway bargaining with Dr. P.

One day he came in to my session, exhaustive and unforgiving session.
Wow, Amy, you're such a strong, powerful little girl.
I think you're going to break one of those bands.
When you do break them, I am going to give you one hundred bucks.

This is the simple plot for Dr. P to do the exercise I wan't want to be.

What he effectively did for my was reshape the aweful
into a new and

I have to wonder today to what extent his vision and his decoration of me as a strong and powerful little girl shape my own view of myself as inheriently strong, powerful and athletic

This is an instance of how the power of adult can ignite the power of the child

Our language wasn't allowed
The possibility of the individuals to see themselves as capable.
Our language hasn't cut up with the changes in our society.

Titenian legs.
for aging body and move beyond the limit the nature imposed on them
Not to mention social network platforms allow people to self indentify
To create their own version of description

Many of them

Perhaps our technology is revealing

Everyone has something rare and powerful to offer our society and that
the human ability to adapt is the greatest asset. The human ability to adapt is an interesting
thing.
Because people have continuingly want to talk to me about.
I always felt uneasy to
I think I am starting to figure out about why.

Implicitly in this phrase of overcoming

Success or happiness is about emerging on the other side.
Unmarked

My success in life has come about.
perceived as my disability.

In fact, we are changed, we are marked by the challenge whether physically or emotionally
Adversity isn't an obstacle we need to get around in order to get around with our life.
It's part of our lives and I tend to see as my shadow.
Sometimes I see a lot of it. Sometimes I see very little.
I am not trying to disminish the impact the way a person struggle.

The question is not whether or not you are going to meet adversity. The questions is how you gonna deal with it.

Our responsibility is not simply shooting those who
Preparing them to meet it well.

We did the service to our kids.

There is important difference and distinction.

between objective fact and subjective.

the world ever thinking I can be described by those definitions.

and truly the only real and true

expected quality of their lives
We have to make sure we're not putting the first brick in the wall.
that we will actually disable someone.

Perhaps the existing model of

by not treating the wholeness of a person.
By not
We're creating another ill on top of whatever
We're effectively grading someone's worth to our community
We need to see through the pathology and into the range of human capability

And most importantly,
there is partnership
It's not about devaluing or negating this more trying time.

So maybe the idea I want to put out there is not so much overcoming the adversity.
as opposed to embrace it, grabling with it, and maybe even dance with it.
And perhaps,
If we see adversity as natural, consistent and useful, we're less burdened with the presence
of it.

This year we celebrate the 200th year of Darwin.
When writing about evolution. The Darwin illustrated I think the

It's not the strongest of the spices to survive nor is the most intelligent.
It's the one that is most adaptable to change

It's the adaptivity

Conflicts is the genesis of creation.
From Darwin's work among others. The human ability to survive and flourish
is driven by the

Again, transformation and alteration is our greatest human skill.

And perhaps. until we test it. We don't know what we made of.

A sense of self,
A sense of our own power.
So we can give ourself a gift.

Maybe we can see it as change.
Adversity is just changed that we haven't adapted ourselves to yet
I think the greatest adversity we created for ourselves is this idea of normalcy
Who is normal? There is no normal There is common. There is typical
There is no normal.

If we can change this paradyne from one of achieving normalcy.
We can release the power of so many children and invite them to engage their rare power
to the society.

To be able to contribute. There is evidence.

We can release the power of so many more children and invite them to engage their.

There is evidence and end results.
Because the life experience of survival.
They didn't view these people as broken and useless. They seem them as rare and valuable.

Few years ago, I was in the food market.
I heard of this guy. His voice behind me.
Isn't this Amee Mullins?
He is an elder man I turned around. I have no idea who he is.
I am sorry sir, Have we met? I don't remember meeting you.
You won't remember meeting me.
When we met, I was delivering you from your mother's wonk.
Oh, that guy.
Of course, actually it did click.
Dr. Kim
The man I only know about to my mother.

I arrived late to my birthday by two weeks and my mother's prenatal physician has gone on vacation.
The man who delivered me was complete stranger to my parents.
Because I was born
The stranger will be the carrier of the bad news
He said to me that I have to give the prognosis of

You will never walk and you will never independence

and you have been making a lier out of me ever since.

He saved all the newspaper

The extraordinary,
Winning my college scholarship or any of my sport victories.

He was using it and integrating it into teaching to medical school
He called this as the X factor. The potential of human will.
No prognosis can account for how powerful this could be to determine someone's life
And Dr. Kim went on to tell me that, he said in my experience. Unless repeatedly told otherwise and
even if

A child will achieve
So Dr. Kim made that shift in his thinking.
He understood there is difference of medical condition and someone might do with it.

If you asked me.

I would not have hesitate for a second.

If you ask me today,

Perhaps the shift in me has happen because I have been exposed to more people who has opened doors for me than those who has put lits and cast shadows on me.
All you really need is a person to show the patheny of your own power
If you can hand somebody the key to their own power.
If you can do that to open the door at crucial moment.
You're educating them in the best sense.
You're teaching them to open doors for themselves.
In fact,
The exact meaning of educate comes from the root duce.
To bring forth what is within. To bring out potential. So again, which potential do we want to bring out.

There was a case done in 1900

It separate students from A, B, C and D and so on.
The A's student gets the best curriculum and

They're performing the A's level.
Of course, the heartbreaking and flipped side of this case
They took the A's students and told them they're D's.
People have dropped out.
This is the crucial part of this case study is that
The teachers weren't know the switch was made.
They were simple told these are the A's students and D's students
That's how they went about teaching them and treating them

I think the only true disability is the crushed spirit.
A spirit that has been crushed doesn't have hope. It doesn't see beauty.
No longer has our nature child-like curiousity and our innate ability to imagine
To see beauty in themselves and others.
To be curious and imaginative then we're truly using our power well.
To create new reality and A new way of being.

I like to leave you with the poem
by

The poem was the God only know four words

Not the god with don'ts
The God who only knows four words.

The god who only knows four words.
and keeps repeating them.

Come, dance with me.
Come, dance with me.
