A comic book sold for one million

From CNN.com

One million dollars can buy some lavish things: A fancy apartment in New York, a re sport card, a rare bottle of wine and now a comic book.

Action comic number one, which marks the debut of the superman in 1938, has come to be known as the world's most coveted comic book. It says ten cents on the cover but it costs one buyer ten-million-time more. Online auction site, comicconnect.com, just sold the extremely rare, top condition copy for exactly one million dollars. That's more than three times higher than the previous record price which also went for a copy of action comic number one in slightly worse condition.

According to comicconnect, only about one hundred copies of this particular comic book remain existence and only two of them have the quality grading of eight or higher out of ten and this particular book that sold for one million dollar is one of them. It has been in a private collection for more than fifteen years.

Another highly-coveted comic is detective comic number 27. Why? They marked the first appearance of Batman in 1939 but, according to comicconnect, it's priced about 25 percent lower than action comic number 1. So looks like, Superman wins this battle.
