Unify the multiple meanings of a word

It's just an elephant.

Begin with a very famous Chinese story goes like this - 7 blind people are asked to
touch an elephant and provide their description of the elephant. It turns out
each one of them gave a different description based on the part they touched.
It may seem ridiculous for people with perfect eyesights : How could it be so
many different descriptions for just an elephant?

The most frustrated task for English learners might be the problems to
memorize all the meanings lists for one word. How could anybody possibly
memorize so many different meanings of so many words? Here the famous
Chinese story comes into play: Every word can be considered as an elephant but you get different descriptions from different aspects. If you can catch the main idea of the word,
you can easily know meaning even though you don't know this explanation before! Now, the fun part of learning English begins. You're not memorize ten meanings to know one word. Instead, you're holding only one meaning and automatically understand all the others.

Need an excellent example here.
